Wastewater Treatment
On-site wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) are regulated through the Environmental Health Department. This program regulates the operation, maintenance, installation and major repairs of OWTS. To construct a new OWTS or to make a major repair on an existing one, an OWTS Construction Permit must be issued from the Environmental Health Department. To begin the process, a Construction Permit Application, OWTS design plan, and soil morphology must be submitted to the Environmental Health Department. Please contact the Environmental Department to discuss plans or to obtain a Construction Permit Application.
Soil scientists who conduct soil morphologies and OWTS installers must be registered with MO DHSS. Following are links to registered soil scientists and installers:
For complaints concerning OWTS, call the Environmental Health Department.
