Environmental Health

Staff at the Environmental Public Health Department deals with safe practices and inspections concerning restaurants, childcare, and lodging.  Complaints concerning the sanitation of these establishments are investigated, as are allegations of food-borne illnesses obtained from restaurants.  On-site wastewater treatment systems are permitted through this department; complaints concerning these systems are investigated.

Food Establishments

Inspected facilities include restaurants, school cafeterias, retail groceries, mobile food vendors, taverns, temporary food stands, bakeries, and USDA summer food program sites.  There is no fee for inspections.  The Missouri Food Code contains all the rules that must be followed for those who sell or prepare food.  The Food Code may be viewed or downloaded:
